Now, I know that rarely things are this strictly black and white, but for the most part, what's the suspected Alliance comparison (During WoW's earlier days, at least) for SWTOR? It seems that the Empire is the more popular side for the most part, except for places like these forums, where the more intelligent seem to reside and prefer the Republic. I'm assuming that the Empire will be the noob side, at least at the game's beginning, because of its classes looking a bit more "cool". I'd still like to be sure, because it would be most unfortunate for me to get deep into the game and learn that I'm on the side where the kids frolic. Thanks for your input!

The empire will definitely be the "noob" side but I'm still rolling it. ;D
I've been a Sith fan since '77, James Earl Jonesgasms, so there is no way I'm not rolling it. Of course all the "Annie" fans will be rolling empire too so turning off all general chat channels is probably the first thing I'll be doing whenever I log in. :P

ye i would guess more kids will roll dark, they just seem to migrate towards bad. Then they start naming toons shadowwolf , and darkbane or evilkilla. Finnally they migrate into huge zerg guilds called " legion of shadowdark evil templars of death" and utterly ruin any open channels with inane drivel involving cake versus pie or chuck norris.

When you say Annie, do you mean Anakin, or something else?
I hope I don't sound like a moron...
Yep, its for Anakin and comes from what he is sometimes called in the prequels. "Annie" was also a musical from the seventies and for the emo-ness of Padme's "Annie" to be associated with the awesomeness that was James Earl Jones' "Lord Vader," in any way, should be considered a heinous crime against humanity.
So I refer to the Sith wannabes of the prequels as Annies. Since comparing them to the Sith Lord of the sequels is like comparing the Vampires of Twilight to Vlad of Bram Stoker's Dracula.

I still think that Empire will have the "better" PvPers, if only with because people think that Empire will have the cooler looking gear, and aestics are a pretty big influence in games, the more spikey spikes of neferious naughtyness, the better. I still think both sides will have their fair share of moron, though I figure that smugglers and IA will have the least, though I could be wrong and they have plenty of morons too.
Soon as the NDA lifts, I will tell you guys my experiences from beta regarding the maturity of the players on each side.
Cool, though the limited numbers can kinds of skew things during Beta. Once the millions can flood in, it may completely change the moronimeter's readings.

its a big enough sample to be valid, though in beta heaps of folk choose the side they won't be choosing at release in order to see things they won't or not to waste the story of a classthey want to play for real.

Indeed, I also recall that prior to launch most were predicting the Horde would drastically outnumber the Alliance. Didn't quite work out that way until the Blood Elves were added. :P

Is it bad that I like Darth Maul? Phantom Menace was better than the other two!
Unrelated to le quote, Youtube comments is mostly for Empire, and since it's always best to do the opposite of Youtube commentors, I think Republic would be the best way to go.
yeah, i think the reason wow was the exception and far more kids joined alliance was the races more than the factions.
I know i just didnt fancy being a cow, zombie, or comic looking troll. but since then the bad side has been more full of kids. I'm sure if wow had blood elves on horde at the start it would have been diffrent.

Speaking to some guys in beta, they both say the Empire is attracting the more childish players, in the same way they tended to gravitate towards the Alliance in WoW and Destruction in WAR. But that is beta and could change at general release...although I doubt it.
I'm planning on making my alt an Empire character just to see things from the other side, but my heart's going to stay with ym trooper. Who may eb called Cooper, I'll keep you updated on that.
...things I say...
I have interest in playing all four of the Republic side classes, and really very little interest in the Sith side.
That's my choice. I hope they Republic side is the more mature/adult community, it's also great fun killing whiny kids in PvP games!
Now that the NDA has lifted, I would say my experience has leaned more toward Republic being the n00b side. Once the masses started hitting beta, all area chat was trash as usual anyway, but I found the players on the Sith side to be more likely to try to answer a question with a real response instead just ridicule and 4chan humor. Anyone else want to share an opinion?
I didn't try the Republic for the event but the chat on the Sith side wasn't as bad as I expected it to be.

From what I could see, the Sith side chat did seem less "noobish". I also never lost a PVP match on Sith side, coincidence?
I never tried PvP on either side, but I too noticed there was more "barrens chat" on the Republic side than the Empire side. Still I wonder if that will change on the live servers. I guess when they have that big final beta we can probably get a good guess since just about everyone gets in that one as far as I know.
if most folk play republic on beta that probably means most will play empire live . In the most beta's I've played recently folk want to try the opposoite side for free before it goes live and they have to invest time in it. It certainly worked that way in Rift beta.

Absolutely it is. But it won't do harm if you did enjoy doing that.
